Shilin Night Market (士林夜市) is Taipei’s largest and best-known night market in Shilin district. Having a MRT station to stop at the area, it’s very easy and convenient to get there. Most of the shops are housed in the indoor, selling varieties of authentic Taiwan food, fashionable clothings and accessories.

Ximending (西門站) is similar to Harajuku or Shibuya in Japan. Both are famed for a diversity of entertainments and activities that attract young people, usually a gathering site for the youngsters. Besides food, the place is filled with all kinds of shopping options including department store to shops, hair saloons, cinemas, karaokes and pubs.

If you don’t mind staying at a budget hotel, i recommend you Cheers Hotel (located near the cinema). The room is not spacious but really clean. https://zh-tw.facebook.com/CheersHotel
